A female employee for Toshiba America Nuclear Energy has filed a $100 million class-action lawsuit against the company alleging company-wide gender discrimination. The suit claims the company pays females less than their male counterparts and denies them promotions, among other discriminatory acts. Johnson & Johnson product liability 244

Johnson & Johnson has been ordered to pay $482 million to a New Jersey doctor for patent infringement. A Texas jury ruled the company violated a patent held by Bruce Saffran for a device used to treat damaged heart tissue. Illegal marketing off the Neurotin drug 243

Drug maker Pfizer Inc. has been ordered to pay $142.1 million in damages over illegal marketing of the epilepsy drug Neurontin. Pfizer was accused of marketing the drug as a treatment for migraines and bipolar disorder, neither of which have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Highway accident causes major injuries 242

Auto Accidents are another area of San Diego Personal Injury Law.

A California jury has awarded $49 million in a lawsuit stemming from a highway accident in 2007 that left one man dead and a police officer paralyzed. The officer had pulled a man over on the highway when a truck slammed into them, killing the other driver and rendering the police officer a quadriplegic. The Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall of certain types of pet food due to the risk of salmonella. Nebraska priest sexually abuses a teenager 238

The suit alleged Father John Fiala sexually abused the teenager in 2007 and attempted to hire someone to murder him. Home broken by police 236

The city of Antioch, Calif., has agreed to a $750,000 settlement in a lawsuit filed by a former San Francisco police inspector. The plaintiff claims her home was “broken into” by police during a dispute she was having with a tenant and she was unnecessarily Tased, arrested and taken to jail.
