An Alabama jury has awarded $2.4 million to a local mother whose 2-year-old child died in 2007 after ingesting methadone. The child was taken to the emergency room of Medical Center East in May 2007 after accidentally ingesting a methadone tablet. The suit claims the doctors negligently discharged the child after only a few hours of monitoring, and he died a few hours later.
