The city of La Junta, Colo., has agreed to settle a lawsuit with a New Jersey man who was wrongful imprisoned. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was arrested on an Amtrak train after being accused of “making statements about bombing the train and al-Qaeda” while on his cell phone. Passengers near the man, however, said they heard nothing of the sort and the suit accuses officers of lying in their arrest affidavits. Lawsuit over a delayed treatment of young child 174

A medical malpractice lawsuit has been filed against Catholic Healthcare West,Methodist Hospital in south Sacramento and various emergency room workers for delayed treatment of a young child. The suit, filed by the girl’s parents, claims they waited five hours in the emergency room with their daughter, who was infected with Streptococcus A. When medical care finally came, the suit says, the toddler had to have parts of all four of her limbs amputated. Well water contaminated from natural gas exploration 173

A lawsuit has been filed in New York by nine local families against the Anschutz Exploration Corporation over alleged contamination of well water from natural gas exploration. Child seats product liability 172

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall of almost 800,000 child seats because the harness may not effectively protect the child. The child seats were made by the Dorel Juvenile Group and were sold under the brand names Safety 1st, Maxi-Cosi, Cosco and Eddie Bauer. J&J product liability 171

Johnson and Johnson (J&J) has announced a recall of 70,000 syringes of its antipsychotic drug Invega Sustenna. The company announced the recall after it was discovered that the syringes may have cracks. The crack could be completely covered by the label on the syringe and would therefore be invisible to the user. Newborn mittens product liability 170

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 4,700 newborn mittens due to a choking hazard posed by decorative pieces on the mittens. Reports of sexual assault while overseas ignored 169

Sexual Harassment is another area of San Diego Personal Injury Law.

A group of women who served in the military have filed a lawsuit against the federal government, claiming their reports of sexual assault while overseas have been ignored. In the lawsuit, women detail counts of alleged rape in war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. 9-year-old dies in a go-Kart 168

A Colorado family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a local go-kart racing park after the death of their 9-year-old daughter in August 2010. The suit claims a recovery vehicle suddenly drove onto the track at Grand Junction Motor Speedway, causing the girl to crash her kart. Peeler machine cut off part of a man’s genitalia 167

A man who had part of his genitalia cut off by a peeler machine last year has filed a lawsuit against his employer, Future Foam Carpet Cushion. According to the suit, the man was removing a foam core from a machine used to cut carpeting foam when the machine turned on and the blade sliced into him. Portable heaters recall 166

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of 92,000 portable heaters that have the tendency to overheat and catch fire.
