Power and Light entertainment lawsuit 163

A class-action lawsuit against the Power & Light entertainment district in Kansas City over an alleged discriminatory dress code has been dismissed by a federal judge. The suit, filed by four African-American men, had claimed the entertainment district implemented a dress code to keep African-Americans out. A former Boston pediatrician has been accused in a lawsuit of performing “medically unnecessary genital examinations” during a 20-year-span in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Golf course mudslide lawsuit 160

A group of California homeowners have filed a lawsuit against Shorecliffs Golf Course over mudslides that occurred last December. Snow bikes recall 159

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 2,100 snow bikes due to defects in the skis. Tech 4 Kids Inc. has reported that the front ski on their OUTER EDGE snow bikes can “break or crack,” causing the bike to stop and potentially injure the rider. Johnson & Johnson (J&J) have recalled batches or their arthritis treatment Simponi from Germany and have halted shipments of the product to Europe. Lawsuit against over a 10 p.m. curfew imposed to stop gang violence 157

A lawsuit has been filed against the city of Los Angeles over a 10 p.m. curfew imposed to stop gang violence. The curfew was put in place through a series of injunctions targeting gang members in a effort to decrease violence. The language of the curfew, however, is so vague that it “violate(s) a person’s constitutional rights,” the lawsuit states. The suit stems from a recent arrest of a teenage boy who was out after curfew. The boy, the Los Angeles Times reports, had no affiliation with a gang but was targeted because he older brother did. Student died while learning to swim 156

The Peoria Unified School District in Arizona has settled a lawsuit with the family of a student who died while learning how to swim in the high school swimming pool. The boy “slipped unnoticed to the bottom of the deep end” during PE class and died shortly after being pulled from the pool, the suit claims.
