The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 128,000 coffee and tea makers from IKEA. The agency said that pressure from the metal pot holder can cause the coffee or tea maker to break, posing a laceration and burn risk. Hair loss drug causes sexual dysfunction 104

A lawsuit has been filed by firms in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York against pharmaceutical manufacturer Merck & Co. over alleged side effects of the hair loss drug Propecia that were not advertised. The suit claims the drug can cause “sexual dysfunction and mental impairment” and that Merck failed to adjust its label to warn Americans of these effects. Woman killed while driving a Indy car 103

Wrongful Death is another area of San Diego Personal Injury Law.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in California against the Mario Andretti Racing Experience over the death of a woman who was driving a replica Indy race car in October of last year. The woman, who was participating in the Mario Andretti Racing Experience Driving 101, struck one of the walls Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Cigna Corp. discrimination lawsuit 102

Giant Food has recalled all packages of McCormick’s Golden Dipt Tempura Seafood Batter Mix due to an undeclared allergen. The company reported that the mix may contain milk, which is not listed on the label. Premises Liability for DeFranco & Sons 100

Los Angeles-based DeFranco & Sons has agreed to recall all of their bulk and consumer-packaged in-shell hazelnuts and mixed-nut products containing in-shell hazelnuts due to cases of E. coli connected to the products. The products were distributed in November and December of 2010. Implant medical malfunction 98

Medical Malfunction is another area of San Diego Personal Injury Law.

A group of Rochester, New York, residents have filed a lawsuit against DePuy Orthopaedics over faulty hip implants. The plaintiffs claimed they suffered injuries after having the implants put in and have to have additional surgeries. The company failed to adequately test the product before putting it out on the market, the suit alleges. A Dallas man has filed a lawsuit against the city police department after being beaten during a traffic stop, an incident the man claims was racially motivated. The plaintiff claims in his suit that his civil rights were violated during the stop in January where he was kicked by officers, handcuffed and sprayed with pepper spray.
