Mazda has issued a recall of 52,000 cars after it was discovered a small spider that is attracted to the smell of gasoline may build its webs in the vehicle’s emissions system. The recall affects the company’s Mazda6 line, which has two pipes coming out of its gas line, producing a smell strong enough to attract the spider but not kill it. A whistleblower lawsuit filed against the state of Iowa may proceed, a state court of appeals ruled this week. The plaintiff, a former prison guard, claims he was forced out of his job as retaliation for reporting that another jail officer was stealing from the prison. A Delaware man has filed a lawsuit against the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, claiming he was molested by a priest when he was a boy and that the archdiocese was negligent in allowing it to happen. Johnson & Johnson has issued a recall of 384,180 insulin pumps that could leak during use, posing a serious risk of health issues to the user. The leaky pumps may deliver less insulin to the user than intended, the company said. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 20,000 outdoor fireplaces produced by Sunjoy Industries Group Limited. The agency said the bronze powder coat on the product can ignite, posing an increased burn risk to users.
