A lawsuit has been filed against a Charlotte, N.C., Omni Hotel and the hotel’s barman over the rape of a female guest in September 2007. The plaintiff alleges in the suit that she was given a drink by the barman that “made her dizzy” and then he followed her to her room and raped her. The suit accuses the hotel of having inadequate security measures and says the barman had committed similar crimes in the past. The suit is seeking unspecified damages. A Missouri man has filed a lawsuit against two former Kansas City priests, claiming they both sexually abused him when he was a boy. The suit alleges the molestation happened when the boy was eight-years-old by one defendant and then again when he was 13 by the other. The Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph is also named in the lawsuit, which claims the church should have been aware of the priests’ behaviors and done more to stop them.
