The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 165,000 Cachet swivel chairs due to safety risks. Steelcase, the product’s manufacturer, said the front seat support part of the chair can crack and fail, causing the user to fall. Anaheim Ducks religious discrimination 264

A Jewish hockey player drafted by the Anaheim Ducks has filed a lawsuit against the team over religious discrimination. The plaintiff claims in his suit that he was “forced to endure a barrage of anti-Semitic, offensive and degrading verbal attacks” while a member of the Ducks’ farm team, theBakersfield Condors. Medical Malpractice causes 4 year-old death 263

Medical Malpractice is another area of San Diego Personal Injury Law.

A $2.5 million settlement has been reached in a medical malpractice lawsuitagainst a psychiatrist at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. The suit was filed against Dr. Kayoko Kifuji and claimed she was responsible for prescribing psychiatric drugs to a 4-year-old girl that resulted in her death. Police Department gender-discrimination lawsuit 262

The Concord Police Department in California has agreed to a $150,000 settlement with a female officer in a gender-discrimination lawsuit. The plaintiff complained in her lawsuit that the department was “rife with overt hostility and disparate treatment toward female officers” and she and other female officers were subjected to a “de facto” male hierarchy. Paintball gun product recall 261

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 1,400 paintball gun/markers due to a safety risk. KEE Action Sports LLC announced that the BT SA-17 Paintball Gun/Marker has a CO2 cartridge that can fly off the gun, posing an injury risk to the user. A Staten Island man has filed a $500,000 lawsuit against social media giant Facebook for shutting down his account for no reason. The man said he has contacted Facebook multiple times about the problem without receiving a response. Alcohol poisoning lawsuit 259

Utah State University has agreed to a settlement in a lawsuit filed against them by the family of a student who died of alcohol poisoning in 2008. The suit claimed USU officials “failed to exercise meaningful oversight over its Greek-letter societies, long ignoring misbehavior at the Sigma Nu fraternity chapter,” where the incident occurred. Pipe line explosion causes 20 year-old death 258

The family of a California girl has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (PG&E) over a gas pipeline explosion that resulted in the 20-year-old’s death. The lawsuit claims the company was aware of defects in the pipeline before the explosion but ignored the safety issue. “PG&E failed to maintain or properly inspect the pipe or install automatic or remote shutoff valves,” the suit claims. California events promoter Live Nation has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit filed against them over improper fees charged by subsidiary Ticketmaster. The suit claimed Ticketmaster added “delivery” fees that were really ways to boost the company’s profit.
