A $4.6 million settlement has been reached in a lawsuit filed by the family of one of the firefighters that died in a 2007 house fire in Contra Costa County, Calif. The lawsuit alleged two security companies “mishandled” reporting the fire, which allowed it to increase in severity before firefighters were dispatched.
