Lawsuit over dumping hazardous waste in Cali. 321

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has settled with 275 companies in the amount of $17 million over the dumping of hazardous waste in California in the 80’s. The Monterey Park landfill was “identified (as) an environmental problem and named a Superfund site in 1986.” Over 1000 companies plus the owner of the site have contributed more than $600 million overall to help clean up the contamination. The U.S. Supreme Court left intact a decision by a federal court of appeals in New York to move forward to the evidence gathering-stage in a suit accusing the country’s four largest music labels of price-fixing. Agency for workforce violates Florida constitution 318

Two legal groups have sued the Agency for Workforce Innovation for allegedly violating the Florida Constitution by not increasing minimum wage by $.06 this year to account for inflation. Police fatally shot man behind the wheel 316

The family of a former Pace University football player is suing the Town of Mount Pleasant and Village of Pleasantville for $120 million, claiming local police “were negligent and lacked proper training before they fatally shot Henry behind the wheel of his car.” The shooting occurred outside of a bar in New York state, and according to the suit, the family’s son had slowed down his car when an officer jumped onto the hood and shot him just feet away.
